Pardon me, but who makes the “W500″ model you reference? Thinkpad I guess, which makes it one of a few hundred laptop PCs whose prices go up and down like a yo-yo out there which will be phased out of production in a few months and may begin to fail within a year or so – the battery, the hinge, or whatever. seen it happen with plenty of other PCs. my old 2003 iBook is still going strong – granted, I only use it for web surfing and office-related tasks, but that, and storing photos while I was travelling was what I got it for (it actually cost less than the estimated number of Compact Flash chips I figured I would need for a trip to Alaska!)
