Most iPad developers may not yet have touched the actual device, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy working away on software for Apple’s newest invention. but, according to an e-mail obtained by Macworld, if you want your iPad application to have a chance of being in the App Store for the iPad’s arrival, you’d better have it ready for Apple’s review by March 27.
Calling all iPad and would-be iPad developers: Starting today, Apple will be accepting apps for review. Only applications submitted to review by March 27, 2010, will be considered for the grand opening of the iPad App Store. after an initial review, Apple will let developers know about the readiness of their app so that changes can be made before a final review submission. Apple will resolve the e-book market’s deficiencies to capture new users. I think the problem with the e-reader market is that it is device dependent for now to maximize profits for the distributor — Amazon, Sony, Microsoft, Google, etc. OK. I never plan to get a Kindle or Sony e-reader because that is like a lost investment from day one in my opinion. If I could have an e-book reader custom designed, I would want these specs:1. Foldout capability like a book with two screens2. Mobile connectivity, e-mail, phone, fax, bluetooth3. Color display4. Multiple batteries or traditional battery packs that attach5. Ability to change fonts, text and image size, spot zoom, note-writing (stylus, touch screen, or external keyboard)6. Ability to skip 10-20 pages at a time7. Downloadable software which enables online dictionary, thesauraus, craigslist, wikipedia, amazon, and other http linkage with the book’s text (total reference/product placement)8. Ability to customize all functions9. Video/Music playback capability10. Word processing for diaries, memos, drafts, screenplays, reports, etc.11. Hard outer case which resembles a book, and can have display panels on the spine and covers for high-end users.12. I/O jacks for optimal innerconnectivity13. Multi-platform or open platform capability14. Camera (optional)15. Scanning capabilityWithout these features, it’s hard to see why someone would want another device to lug around unless they want to escape from all other communications capabilities.
