Price: Mini desktops are becoming very popular today due to their space saving design and high ‘cool’ factor. Both the HP Slimline and Apple Mac Mini are full-featured desktops that belong to a similar class. At the time of writing, the HP Slimline S3700F is selling for around $429 each while the Apple Mac Mini MB464LL/A sells for around $769 each. The winner of this category will come as no surprise. Winner: HP Slimline S3700F.

Design: Although the HP Slimline S3700F is not nearly as tiny as the Apple model, it is pretty small compared to regular sized desktops, measuring at 13.39 x 4.2 x 10.9 inches. The Apple Mac Mini MB464LL/A on the other hand is super compact, measuring at 6 x 6 x 2 inches in dimensions. Although the Apple desktop would be a clear winner of this category, it is worth mentioning that the subtle design of the HP desktop is also noteworthy. Winner: Apple Mac Mini MB464LL/A

This is the same 14 inch Macbook Air clone that’s been doing the rounds on other blogs. M.I.C China had a not so ‘sneak peek’ of it here and Shanzai.com did a piece on it over on their blog (I can’t get on Shanzai for some reason so I apologize for not giving a direct link) Both blogs however seemed to have missed what we think is the real news on this 14 inch (13 inch available too) Macbook Air clone, and that’s the fact it’s on sale with Snow Leopard installed at this very moment in time!
We picked up the news on Saturday while posting info on other Hackintosh computers available online, but we’re been to busy riding our bikes in the glorious sunshine to post it.
The alloy shell looks very much like the Dian Ji Macbook clone with TV receiver built in, seen here, but is missing the rather cool umbrella branding.
Snow Leopard 10.6.3 is installed on a 160GB Sata hard drive and ran on an Intel Atom N270 1.66 GHz processor with 1G of DDR2 ram (the computer will support up to 2G of ram)
Unlike the real Macbook Air this Shenzhen model houses 2 USB, and has a replaceable battery, unfortunately the battery is only good for a couple of hours.
Price is a very reasonable 2800 RMB for the 14 inch model pictured here and 2600 RMB for the 13.3 inch.

Hello Consumerist,

Recently I went into an Apple Store with a broken hard drive on a black Macbook. this was my third hard drive crash on the machine in 18 months. Previously I had another apple notebook which had no problems in the four years I used it.

After the second hard drive crash I took the machine to the Genius bar for service and it was sent away to Apple in California. After getting it back about ten days later I was informed that they had replaced the DVD drive (?) in addition to the hard drive and was told if I had any trouble with this hard drive they would replace the machine.

The review model I received had the “Ice Blue” finish with the familiar Dell icon in the center. The glossy sections of this machine are fingerprint magnets (no way around that), but they look good. The whole thing measures 15 by 9.8 by 0.8 inches and weighs just under 5.5 pounds. The 15.6-inch widescreen display stretches it out–this is not a laptop you can casually toss into a small bag, but it isn’t a monster either. The left side has USB, VGA, and HDMI ports, plus the ethernet plug. The right edge has the DVD drive, two more USB ports, microphone and headphone ports, and a memory card reader.
