The iPad is the first touch tablet that Apple has launched since their Newton which wasn’t quite a hit. Announced on the 27th of January 2010, it’s right between a smartphone and a laptop as far as functionality goes. Very similar to the iPhone or iPod Touch, it runs the same operating system (iPhone OS) with a user interface redesigned to make full use of the larger screen.
It has a 9.7 inch (25 centimeter) LED backlit multi-touch display with a resolution of 1024×768.You can choose the storage capacity from 16 to 64 GB of flash memory. The processor is an Apple A4 running at 1 GHZ. It also has Bluetooth 2.1 so you can use wireless headphones or other accessories which take advantage of this technology. And of course it also includes the standard 30-pin dock connector so you can sync with iTunes or connect other wired accessories. The touchscreen iPad uses a lithium-ion polymer battery that loses capacity over time, just like the iPods and iPhones before it. Apple will replace your battery when it is completely depleted for a fee of 99$.

This is exactly where I need a gaming device to fit. I think there’s going to be a lot of kids becoming exposed the the Apple brand very early on. It’s easier for you to bring your baby to a large touchscreen device for activities and games than for you to do it with a netbook or ANY OTHER type of computer. I’m a casual gamer myself, so most of what I want to play is crosswords, Peggle, Civilization if I want to spend more time, or group board games if I’m with friends. I buy three magazines a month and the newspaper once a week. That might increase if I can do that from the device instantly. Continue reading »
